Why should I book dog nutrition counseling?
There are as many different dog diets as there are paw pairs in the world. A healthy diet is a significant part of your dog's well-being throughout its life. With the right diet, you can support a puppy's growth and development, cater to an adult dog’s individual needs, and ensure a lively old age for a senior dog. Each dog’s individual characteristics, such as breed, size, and activity level, influence its nutritional needs.
The nutritional recommendations for puppies and adult dogs differ in terms of energy and nutrient intake. For aging dogs, there are no official recommendations that differ from those for adult dogs, but healthy aging can be supported in many ways with the right nutrition.
Dog nutrition counseling helps and supports owners and their dogs with all things related to nutrition. At Alvar, we’ve noticed that there’s a demand for clear, research-based advice on dog feeding. We offer free nutrition counseling with Alvar’s veterinarian for both existing and potential new customers.

Nutrition Counseling Focuses on Your Dog’s Individual Needs
Alvar’s nutrition counseling is virtual, either via video call or regular phone call, depending on your preference. In the consultation, the focus will be on your dog’s individual needs. The call will cover your dog’s current health and nutritional situation, and discuss any concerns you may have.
Your questions may relate to choosing the right Alvar dry food, the nutritional needs of dogs at different life stages, or generally supporting your dog’s health and well-being with the right diet.
If needed, you can also ask about health problems related to feeding. If necessary, Dr. Alvar will guide you to further discussions with the treating veterinarian. Nutrition counseling does not involve making diagnoses or giving medication recommendations, but you will receive plenty of information and tips on possible nutritional support treatments.
