Dry foods are at the heart of Alvar's product range, and it’s important to us that our selection offers suitable food for as many dogs as possible.
As part of the packaging redesign, we’re updating our dry food lineup – with this update, we hope that even more dog owners will find a health-promoting diet tailored to their dog’s special needs.
Recipe changes are mostly moderate, because why fix something that isn’t broken? Plus, we want to do our best to ensure that you, our happy customers, stay happy:
- Some recipes will have simplified ingredient lists to provide more options for dogs with sensitivities.
- Some recipes will include new active ingredients to support health benefits.
- Product names will change to more clearly reflect each recipe’s benefits.
We must say – with this fine-tuning, new names, and updated look, the recipes are looking absolutely amazing. 😍
We’ll keep you updated on the timeline of these changes

- Check your email. You’ll receive more information specific to your dog’s recipe during December.
- We’ll give you a heads-up well in advance (approx. 6 weeks) before any change, so you can stock up on the current recipe if needed and transition gradually.
We'll ensure you're well-informed and aim to make sure the changes require no action on your part, e.g., regarding subscription management.
Update 13.1.2025 – Recipe updates will happen in two phases
The changes will be rolled out in two phases, so not all dry food recipes will change at once.
Phase One – Recipes manufactured in Denmark will be updated
The first changes will happen in March. These recipes are made at United Petfood in Denmark:
- Zippy→ new name: Performance/Chicken
- Slender → new name: Light/Fish
- Delicate → new name: Digestion/Duck
- Bug → new name: Derma/Insect
Customers affected by these changes have been informed via email.
Phase Two – Recipes manufactured in Finland will be updated
The recipes made at Premium Pet Food in Finland will change later in spring. Details on these changes will be shared closer to the date. Affected recipes:
- Baltic Sea
- Verve
- Steady
- Delight– production of this recipe will move from Denmark to Finland.
Järeä and Juuri recipes
- Sturdy will be available until April. We’ll contact customers closer to the date about replacement options.
- Root will remain unchanged, including its packaging.
Update 30.1.2025 – Changes to Denmark-manufactured recipes
Here’s an overview of the recipe updates launching in March. These recipes are produced in Denmark by Nordic Petcare Group. Nutritional profiles remain unchanged, meaning energy levels and nutritional values stay the same, and the foods will still meet the same specific needs as before.
Delicate→ new name: Digestion/Duck
One of our most popular recipes, Delicate, is getting small but meaningful updates:
- Peas removed; highly digestible fava bean starch added as a carbohydrate source → main ingredients remain duck (monoprotein) and potato.
- Fresh duck added alongside duck meal → improves palatability and digestibility.
- Seaweed powder added → brings important long-chain fatty acids, especially DHA.
Zippy→ new name: Performance/Chicken
Ingredient updates to the Zippy recipe:
- Potato partially replaced with highly digestible fava bean starch.
- Fresh chicken added alongside chicken meal → boosts palatability and digestibility.
- Glucosamine and chondroitin sulfate added to support joint health.
Slender → new name: Light/Fish
Ingredient updates to the Slender recipe:
- Peas and chicken-based ingredients removed; fava bean starch added → main ingredients remain fish (monoprotein) and potato.
- Fresh fish added alongside fish meal → improves palatability and digestibility.
- Glucosamine and chondroitin sulfate added for joint support.
Bug → new name: Derma/Insect
Bug, designed for highly sensitive dogs, has received excellent feedback from customers.
Since this recipe is already carefully formulated with a rare protein source, we decided not to make any changes to its composition.
Update 5.5.2025 – Changes to Finland-manufactured recipes
Here’s an update on the recipes changing in May. These recipes are produced in Finland by Premium Pet Food. Nutritional profiles remain unchanged – energy content and nutritional composition stay the same, and the food still supports the same specific needs.
Steady → new name: Sensitive/Fish
Small changes to one of our most popular recipes:
- Peas and eggs removed → main ingredients remain fish and potato.
- Glucosamine and chondroitin sulfate added for joint support.
Baltic Sea → new name: Adult/Fish
This recipe received a more thorough update based on customer feedback:
- Chicken, potato, and fava beans removed → main ingredients now fish (monoprotein) and oats.
- Fresh salmon added alongside fish meal → enhances palatability and digestibility.
- Glucosamine and chondroitin sulfate added for joint health.
Delight → new name: Senior/Chicken
Ingredient updates to Delight:
- Legumes like peas and fava beans removed → main ingredients now chicken (monoprotein) and oats.
- Fresh chicken replaces chicken fat and liver to improve palatability.
- Glucosamine and chondroitin sulfate added.
Verve → new name: Puppy/Chicken
Ingredient updates to Verve:
- Fish, potato, and peas removed → main ingredients now chicken (monoprotein) and oats.
- Fresh chicken added alongside chicken meal → boosts palatability and digestibility.
- Glucosamine and chondroitin sulfate added for joint support.
